Last week was school vacation, and at the end of the long cold dreary winter, we needed a break.
That, and ever since Alistair studied the Pilgrims last fall he’s been fascinated with the notion of them sailing all the way across the Atlantic and landing by accident near Boston.
So on Friday we decamped all the way down to Plymouth – all of 45 miles away.
We checked out Plymouth Rock.
We saw the Mayflower.
Despite the cold and blustery wind, there were hordes of tourists so we didn’t go aboard.
We spent some quality time in the hotel’s indoor pool – complete with a waterslide and a waterfall.
And then packed up the car and came home on Saturday.
