February 27, 2017

And just like that, it is the end of February.

The boys had a pretty good vacation week, after the hockey game they had a few days of downtime before my mother-in-law took them to the Museum of Science. They had a special Da Vinci exhibit up, which is perfect because he is the topic of Alistair’s biography project.

The forecast was calling for a string of warm days starting Thursday and continuing through most of the weekend, so I had grand plans of outdoor excursions. All of which came tumbling down when I fell prey to a nasty stomach bug Thursday night, followed by Alistair getting it Friday. Ugh.

We had sufficiently recovered on Saturday to take in some fresh air, but not to go on an actual hike. We contented ourselves with a walk around the Mystic River, across from the Amelia Earhart Dam.

The temperatures still hit 68 that day, so the boys insisted on wearing shorts. Can’t say I blame them, really. High 60’s in February doesn’t happen all that often in New England, got to take advantange when it does.
