We’re five weeks in to our CSA season, and I’m thrilled to say we love it.  We have been a member of a few different ones over the years, and this one is by far the best.  Pricewise it’s in the middle of what we’ve paid before, but for service (they deliver to our front porch), selection, and the model (we choose what we want and how much from whatever’s available, and draw down on our lump-sum payment), it is fantastic.

We had a few weeks of lettuce and spinach early on, but now the selection is expanding weekly.  Two weeks ago we got our first batch of chard

And this past week we got some baby bok choy (so delicious on the grill)

and some summer salad turnips that are on the menu tomorrow night.  We’ve never had these before, but why not try something new?  Bonus points that the boys are excited to see the veggies come out of the cooler, and to try everything. (Thumbs up on the chard, by the way; the bok choy rated a ‘so-so’).

My parents have raspberries in their backyard, so on Sunday we walked over there to pick a couple of cups worth.  Add some sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch, and dump them onto a refrigerated pie crust.  Bake for 45 minutes and voila!  Super simple summer galette.
