April 8, 2011

My baby turned five years old yesterday.

As it our habit, Larry and I took the day off and we had a little family outing – this year he wanted to go back to the Children’s Museum, so that’s what we did.

(holy crap, will you look at how little he was back then?)

Alistair’s new thing is treasure hunts.  We surprised him on Christmas Eve morning with a clue hanging on his bedroom door, and when he followed one clue to the next, and to the next, he found a little something.

He announced on Wednesday that he was hoping for another treasure hunt on his birthday.  So a little scramble to come up with a few clues, one of his presents hastily wrapped and stashed, and we made it so.

Which made for a fairly leisurely morning – an absolute luxury – and we headed out the door at the crack of 11:30.

Anyway, we spent a couple of hours at the museum.

When we came home, it was such a nice afternoon that we headed out back and played with the new balloon science kit he got in the gift shop.

Then it was time for dinner – his choice, of course.  Baked mac and cheese and apple pie.  Sweet potatoes for Larson.

After that, bath and bedtime.  Once he was in dreamland I finally finally FINALLY finished the last bird.

I’ll be back with a full birthday-party update on Monday.  Until then, have a great weekend.
