A rare mid-weekend post, straight from my jumbled mind and jangles nerves, courtesy of my iPhone…

The Peep has had a touch of some bug all weekend; it’s come to a head today, and I’m midway through my third load of laundry. sigh. I can’t quite believe I’m saying this, but right now I’m very happy that he’s still not dully potty trained…

Also, the dusting of snow in the forecast manifested itself as 3 or 4 inches. Larry is at work, and between the plows and my neighbors I’ve got a sizeable chunk of snow trapping my car in the driveway. And although leaving the boy unattended while I shovel is never a great idea, its not even a consideration today. Which means the snowpack will only solidify as the day goes on, and poor Larry will be in for it later. double-sigh.

In the face of all this, I’ve come to a decision about the garden (because it’s only logical to think about your garden in a snowstorm): I’m not gonna start any seeds indoors this year. We’ve been getting seed catalogs for the past few weeks, and “order garden seeds” has been on my RTM list since January 1, but I’ve neither looked at the catalogs or made a list of what I want. Which makes me think it’s turned the corner from a hobby into a chore.

And we all know how good I am with chores…

So out it goes. I’m not quitting gardening entirely, though; I’ll plant some seeds (green beans, simmer squash, greens) directly outdoors, and we’ll just buy seedlings for the rest when the time comes.
