In these trying economic times, not only is necessity the mother of invention, it’s also a low-budget excuse for a girls’ night.

Using instructions in the book Custom Knits, and buoyed up by a number of online articles, CC, Veronica and I decided that our lives simply would not be complete without a duct-tape dress form.  Candice didn’t think her life would be complete WITH a duct-tape dress form, but agreed to come along for moral support.  Good sport that she is, she also cut the duct tape to size, and captured the whole shebang using a tag-team of my camera and Veronica’s.

So, with a pack of tee-shirts, several rolls of duct tape, and a big bag of chinese takeout, we got to it.

First we wrapped ourselves in three layers of duct tape (surprisingly comfortable and quite supportive, actually).

Then we cut them off, taped them back together, and stuffed them with polyfill.

And that’s about all there is to it.

Now CC and I have the means to check the length, ease, and fit of our knitted projects.  Veronica is not a knitter, but I suspect she’s got several uses for a dress form up her sleeve, fashionista that she is.
