A few weeks ago the Peep noticed that the neighbors whose backyard is diagonal to ours have a couple of birdbaths and water fountains in their yard; he’s been very impressed with them.

So impressed that last week he snuck through the back corner of the fence out back into their yard; he was shoulder-deep in their fountain by the time my mother caught up with him.

So, in hopes of keeping him in our own yard, we bought some ceramic pots on clearance and made our own bubbling water fountain (total cost, $44).

The Peep is thrilled.

Last night we had dinner on the verandah, and lingered up there until it was almost dark; we got the warmth of the afternoon sun and a bit of the evening breeze.

Oh, and some nice white wine didn’t hurt things, either.

That sounds like such a great atmosphere to have dinner. I am going to have my family try that the next chance we get.

Working in the PA, NJ, DE and MD areas we’ve done some really nice home makeovers and it seems like more people are fixing up their homes than buying new ones nowadays. Their main concern is definitely energy efficiency. Thanks for the article.
