July 23, 2008

I’ve had a fairly miserable few days; nothing I particularly feel like getting into right now.  Just suffice it to say that I’ve been better.

On the plus side, I’ve made great strides on the pie shawl:

This is where it was midafternoon yesterday – 3 1/2 of the 5 wedges complete.  Last night I finished that fourth wedge, so tonight I’ll work on the fifth.  I’m hoping to have it finished tomorrow night, and block it overnight.  I want to present it before we leave, so hopefully sometime Friday (I have the day off) or Saturday morning.

I’m really happy with this project – I think the yarn and the pattern are pretty well-matched, although I wish I’d gone up a needle size.  I only broke into the second skein yesterday, on the fourth wedge, so I’ll have plenty of yarn left over.  And its intended owner is a lot taller than I, so a bigger wrap would have been nice.  Hopefully I can block an extra few inches out of it.

Once this is done and gone, it’s back to socks for me.  I’ve decidd to bring two projects with me on vacation (ambitious, I know) – the second tweedy sock, and the yarn and pattern to make a pair of Monkeys.

Now I’ve just got to decide which sock yarn in the stash wants to be Monkeys…
