July 3, 2008

Since this week the daily thunderstorms have hit our town in the late afternoons, there has been progress at our construction site:

We have a gate, and a small pergola.  On the other side of the house, we have post-holes (but not yet posts).

Still, progress is progress, and I’ll take what I can get.

The long-term forecasts shows possible thunderstorms through the middle of next week, which is beginning to depress me.  How much more of this can I take?

On the plus side, we haven’t had to use the sprinklers or the hose yet this summer, which is probably saving me a bundle on the water bill.

In other news, I expect to finish the second sock tonight, and begin on a new pair straightaway.

We don’t have any grand-scale weekend plans.  I think there are a couple of hills within a five-minute walk from the house that should offer great views of the fireworks (weather permitting, of course), because as much as I like fireworks and all that, I don’t like the accompanying inconveniences.  Beyond that, and a family cookout on Saturday, not much is confirmed.  Maybe a trip to the swimming hole (again, weather permitting), but that’s about all that’s even on the list right now.

Which is just how I like to spend a long weekend:  doing as little as possible.

Have a great weekend, and happy Independence Day!
