The Peep has needed a haircut for a while now,

but he’s such a terror in the chair we’ve put it off as long as we could. We know a bunch of people who bring their kids to supahcuts, so on Saturday we gave that a try. After a five-minute spectacle, they politely asked us to leave. They said they wouldn’t even try, there was too much danger they’d nick him with the scissors because he was thrashing about so wildly.Crap.

So we brought him home and tried to cut it ourselves, locking him into his highchair. Ah, no. That didn’t work out either — partly because he wouldn’t stay still, partly because he wouldn’t keep his hands out of the way, but mostly because both Larry and I stink at cutting hair.

Later in the day we put him in the tub and tried to do some there, thinking that he’d be distracted by all the toys. Nope!

Finally, Larry had a moment of clarity, and pulled out his beard trimmer. With the trimmer on the longest setting, he held him and I buzzed him. He squirmed and fought it all the way, but this way there was no danger of cutting his ear off, so we toughed it out and cut the sides and back.

It’s not great, but it’s shorter than it was before we started, so that’s something.

We went to Target yesterday and bought a real clipper set, so that next time we’ll have something with more horsepower and a bigger cutting area; hopefully that will make things go faster/easier.

We might try to do something with the top this week, since we’re having his birthday party on Saturday.  We’ll see how things go.
