Who is ‘Big Dee’ ?
Me! My name is Dina Smith and I’m a mom living and working just outside Boston.
Between working full time, managing a household, and keeping a husband and two boys happy and healthy, am freaking busy. All the time. Somehow I’m not smart enough to know my limitations, so I’m often biting off more than I can chew.
There are times when the dishes pile up in the sink, and the laundry doesn’t get done – and I don’t even want to discuss the state of the kitchen floor – but I manage to get in at least a few rows of knitting just about every day.
Why ‘Big Dee’?
The same reason Carmine Ragusa was the Big Ragu. It’s a short joke.
I am five inches shorter than the shortest person in Larry’s family. My family has always called me ‘Dee’. It didn’t take Larry and his family long to pick up the Dee habit, and then one day I walked into their house and was greeted by “hi, Big Dee!”. And it has stuck.
Your baby is adorable and your site is a great read….always love bumping into other working moms who know the insanity of living this life. And I wish I could knit like that!
So did you steal “Busier than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest” from me? Don’t you try to stake claim to that one. Next, you’ll be using “I feel like a one-armed wallpaper hanger”.

To an aspiring knitter (as in I look at the patterns and have bought yarn, but have lent out my knitting needles to never be seen again) I am incredibly impressed by the beautiful socks you have posted!
