Most mornings I turn on the news for a few minutes, mainly to get the weather. This morning I saw a story that absolutely turned my stomach:
A carload of guys jumped a firefighter Sunday night – an on-duty firefighter. In uniform. In front of the firehouse. Apparently because wouldn’t get out of their way, as he was giving a truck driver directions and was blocking part of the road.
I will never understand what compels someone to get out of a car and beat the stuffing out of someone else. I mean, I get annoyed with people blocking the road, too . I’ll admit that I’ve dropped my share of f-bombs over traffic hassles (I’m sure this will come as a shock to those of you who know me). But I’ve never even rolled down my window about it, much less gotten out of the car.
Add to that, the firefighter angle. My dad’s a firefighter, so maybe I’m biased. I can see people having an axe to grind against cops, but firefighters? Who’s got something against a firefighter, for god’s sake?
So this guy is going to be out of work for a few weeks because these clowns didn’t want to wait a few minutes. . . real nice.
