A couple of other thoughts about the weekend:

Box wines don’t necessarily suck anymore. We heard a story about them on the Splendid Table podcast a while back, and took this opportunity to give them a whirl. For a total cost of under $40 we got 3 liters of Pinot Grigio and 5 liters of Cabernet – that’s roughly 10 bottles’ worth of wine, folks. And they were pretty good – particularly the white – even though we served them in red plastic cups (nothing but class at our house). I would definitely go this route again if we ever entertain again.

Also, for those of you tracking your food as part of the W’s program – Hoodsies are 2 points.

On Sunday we were just knackered – we knew we would be, so we bought a picnic ham last week and had our own little Easter dinner, just the three of us. It was low-key, nice, and easy. Best of all, we have ham and a hambone left for (depending on what’s in the pantry) split-pea or lentil soup! I did get a little knitting in – I’ve got about an inch and a half done on the Accordion sweater. It goes pretty quickly – maybe an inch in 45 minutes? I’m hoping to have it finished by mid-May.

Hell yeah, I do.

The Peep followed up the triumph of his party on Saturday with a whopper of a headcold on Sunday. One of those where every time he sneezes, a snotterfall comes out of his nose. And he doesn’t like his nose wiped, thanks very much, so you’re chasing him around with tissue while he’s oozing mucus. Good times. You know this kid is really feeling lousy when he’ll only fall asleep/stay asleep when he’s being held. So guess who didn’t have a great night’s sleep last night?

Then I sat in unprecedented amounts of traffic this morning – my six-mile commute generally takes me 30-35 minutes. Today, it took 55 minutes. Not sure why, either – the kids aren’t on school vacation yet, the Sox aren’t playing today, and Marathon Monday isn’t for another week.

And I’ve been sniffling all day, so you can add “impending headcold” to my list of woes today.

Needless to say, I’m in a great freaking mood.
